The Emerald is an integral part of the Greenbrier community. It has been named one of the top 50 courses in the southeast by Golf Weekly and hosted the 1992 and 1993 PGA Qualifying School. It was designed by Rees Jones who was elected 1995 Golf World Architect of the year. Despite all of the honors, the course was not created to be intimidating. Even though the championship tees play from 6924 yards and has a rating of 72.9, there are 5 different tee locations that allow you to personalize the course to you personal ability. The Emerald becomes a different golf course dependent upon which tee you select. The Emerald is a semi-private club with an outstanding practice area. It also has excellent tennis and swim facilities.
Current membership rates as are as follows:
Full Golf Membership $900 one time initiation fee and $172/month.
House Membership includes swim and tennis $900 one time initiation fee and $78/month.
